John Cale, “The Endless Plain of Fortune”

John Cale, “The Endless Plain of Fortune,” from Paris 1919 (Reprise, 1973)

I must have listened to this tune 25 times as I drove from New York toward Chicago yesterday. It may have its orchestrally over-the-top moments, but part A of the verse (happens three times over the course of the song) makes me melt.
